Three thoughts:

1. This surely comes from a place of, for lack of a better word, "health privilege". I'm immunocompromised and I'm happy that mail-in voting was an option that could quite literally keep me from dying in order to vote.

2. Petty but...it is so much fun to watch Trump and his rabid supporters squirm as states slowly shift decidedly blue.

3. On that note, I think the war won for loss of the battle if votes aren't counted would be a some seriously legitimate standing to sue in court over states who decide to wait until after polls close to count mail-in votes that arrived BEFORE voting day and for some reason weren't counted. Even a hard-right court would have to look askance at that.
